T.I. TO FRIENDS, FAM: ‘DON’T VISIT ME IN JAIL’
T.I. says that he doesn’t want his friends and family to come visit him at all while he’s in jail. He says that he wants them to remember him the way they saw him before he went in. He will be going to jail in March 2009 on weapons charges. He told radio shock jock Howard Stern, “I don’t accept visits. I want people to remember as I am. I’ll see you on release day,” when he appeared on his radio show. He also discussed the federal gun possession charges that are the reason he will be on lockdown. He stated that he doesn’t think that the lifestyle he was living is cool and isn’t condoning it.
“It’s definitely not about looking cool or people seeing you carrying anything around,” he explained. “If you were familiar with my past, you would recognize that there are certain significant dangers that are very real. In 2006 my best friend got killed right in front of me. They made an attempt on my life.”
