Less than 40 days to go before 4-5 million people descend on Washington, DC for President-elect Obama’s inauguration, we here at the EZ Street Show want you to have all the necessary information to make this day a memorable and safe one for you. The inaugural parade will be downtown, and the entire 14 blocks of the National Mall will be open for you to view the parade and inaugural speech.

They are going to have large screens up so that everyone can see. However, if you want a warmer view, the Newseum is said to have the best view, but you will have to pay their regualr admission fees of $20 for adults and $13 for kids to get in. Now, if you’re like me, you’re not looking forward to having to drive through DC on that day. The smartest and easiest wayt o go is to take the Metro. On the day of the inauguration, Metro will operate on their rush hour shcedule from 4:00 am to 7:00 pm. They also will provide Metro service until 2 am for those that are attending Inaugural Balls. They are expecting massive crowds not only on Inauguration Day, but also for the days prior to it, so travel safely. SOURCE

Once you know how you’re going to get there, you gotta decide where you want to go. The bars, clubs, and restaurants are going to be open for 24 hours during the week of the inauguration and they will be popping bottles until 5 am. The gates to the Inaugural Ceremony open at 9 am, but it is suggested that you show up early to get a spot. For certain events, tickets will be needed. To obtain tickets, you have to contact your Congressional Representative.
