Idris Elba and Octavia Spencer received the coveted honor during the awards ceremony that took place this past weekend.

Octavia Spencer also earned the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her unforgettable portrayal of Minny in the film adaptation of The Help. From the beginning, Minny was always a part made for Octavia, who told S2S that The Help (the book) author Kathryn Stockett wrote the character in the book with her in mind.
During her acceptance speech, Octavia paid homage to Dr. Martin Luther King, quoting, “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance.”
Morgan Freeman was also honored for forty five years of talented work in the business.
