In honor of Black History Month, the EZ Street Show salutes our President of the United States of America, President Barack Obama for his influence, inspirational, motiving and for making history by becoming the first African American President. Although President Obama made a historic change, he tells us that great change begins with us.
President Barack Hussein Obama was born Aug. 4, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Where as Barack Obama, Sr., was born in Nyanza Province, Kenya. He grew up herding goats with his father, who was a domestic servant to the British. Although his father reared amongst the Muslims, Obama Sr. became an atheist at some point. Obama’s mother Ann Dunham grew up in Wichita, Kansas. President Obama’s parents separated when he was two years old and later divorced. Obama’s father went to Harvard to pursue Ph. D. studies and then returned to Kenya and his mother married Lolo Soetoro a student from Indonesia. When the president turned ten, he returned to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents, Madelyn and Stanley Dunham, and later his mother (who died of ovarian cancer in 1995).
In fifth grade he enrolled at the esteemed Punahou Academy, graduating with honors in 1979. He was the only one of three black students in the school. Being in that enviroment, Obama became conscious of racism and what it meant to be an African American. In this memoirs, Obama describes how he struggled to reconcile social perpeptions of his multiracial heritage. He also saw his biological father who died in an car accident in 1982 and only once in 1971 after his parents diverced. In his teenage years he admitted to using alcohol, marijuana and cocaine during his teenage years. After graduating from high school, Obama studied at Occidental College for two years, then transferred to Columbia University in NewYork. 1983 he graduated with a degree in political science.

In 1985 he moved back to Chicago where he worked as a community organizer with low-income residents in Chicago’s Roseland community and Atgled Gardens public housing development on the city’s South side.
In 1991 He graduated from Harvard University, and 1996 he Elected to Illinois Senate, representing 13th District in Chicago’s south side neighborhood of Hyde Park. In 2007 November 4, he won the presidential election. Although these are all stepping stones for the president but footprints for the next generation. Obama became President on January 20,2009 when he took oath. From then on people has been crying tears of joy for this day, this time, because history has been made. Congraduations President Barack Obama.
