Dear EZ-Street:
There is no one in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia Area this is a bigger fan than me! At the young age of 21, I have been following Janet’s (Ms. Jackson, if you’re nasty) career since the age of 3. When other eighties babies were watching her brother, Michael, on the Moonwalk VHS, I was singing “We are a apart of the Rhythm Nation” and “Miss you Much”.
I know the words to every song, have bought every single album, and waited in anticipation every year to go to her concert. Unfortunately, as a college student, I haven’t been able to afford a ticket to go to the concert–it’s priced up to $150 for the good seats.
I feel I should be the winner of the Janet Jackson Meet and Greet for her show in DC in Wednesday, because through her music Janet Jackson has taught me to be woman. “Control” was with me as I learned to transition from a young girl to woman. “Let’s Wait A While” taught me to save myself for a man who truly loves me. “State of the World” off Rhythm Nation taught me the injustices of society. “Anytime, Anyplace” taught me how to please a man. “Special” off The Velvet Rope album taught me to believe in myself a little bit more. I could go on for days because that’s how good her music is to me!!
Unlike many other young adults of my generation, I appreciate and have a love of good music—the music of Janet Jackson’s time. I appreciate how Janet Jackson paved the way for many of the R&B artists out today, and it’d be a life joy for me to meet my ultimate favorite artist, one of my favorite actress, and favorite stars. Please grant my dream come true!
