Washington D.C.- On Friday March 30, 2012 MYA returned to her hometown to release her new album entitled K.I.S.S. (Keep it Sexy and Simple). Her evening performance at THE PARK was exactly that SEXY AND SIMPLE!
The sister is a class act who somehow has kept an earthy realness despite having survived in the business for over a decade.
Mya delivered a stellar performance that left the crowd wanting more…
Her royal blue ensemble evoked images of a Geenie in a bottle. Mya rocked some outstanding beaded red pumps that perfectly punctuated the exotically chic presentation.
The crowd was eager to hear Mya’s newest releases since it’s been a minute since the US has heard a peep out of the 90’s R&B princess. Apparently Mya has been touring around the world with this and other songs that have made her one of the industry’s most consistent artists.
With additional guest stars like rapper Trina, Marques Houston, Spice and Sean Paul, K.I.S.S. is an eclectic collection of tracks that range from pop leaning selections like “Fabulous Life” and “Rear View Mirror,” to hip hop club bangers like “Earthquake” and “Mess Up My Hair.” “Take Him Out” is a straight up dancehall inspired jam, while tracks like “Mr. Incredible” and “Love Me Some You,” embody the smooth R&B vibe that Mýa’s fans around the world have come to expect from the Washington DC native.
And while adding the title of CEO of Planet 9 Records to her resume in addition to her award winning performing skills may challenge some, Mýa has a firm belief that standing at the helm of her own career is both empowering and liberating. “I’ve always made music for my fans,” the singer says. “But now there’s nothing standing between me and them, and that’s an amazing feeling.”
We had to take it back just a little bit for some of y’all
