Self mutilation, starvation, self deprivation and other destructive behaviors are all manifestations of a young persons inability to find worth within themselves.
Often those making the mean comments are those that have received them by others as well. The vicious cycle of pain, torment and abuse must end. However, the end begins with self love. Teaching children and young people that they are valued and valuable is imperative. Stopping the cycle of hurt must begin within the home for anyone to be productive and participate effectually within their communities.
