This is a disturbing testament to what society has instilled in our children. Are kids literally taking to social media to find validation from STRANGERS? What’s lacking in their homes?

An overwhelming sense of self doubt and actual concern about what others perceive of them is causing children and young adults to do some unthinkable things. Self mutilation, starvation, self deprivation and other destructive behaviors are all manifestations of a young persons inability to find worth within themselves.

Often those making the mean comments are those that have received them by others as well. The vicious cycle of pain, torment and abuse must end. However, the end begins with self love. Teaching children and young people that they are valued and valuable is imperative. Stopping the cycle of hurt must begin within the home for anyone to be productive and participate effectually within their communities.

The standard of beauty is defined by whom? Media, magazine editors, fashion designers, and other creative artists who find beauty in abnormalities? Communities that are so saturated with one “type” of person that anything else is considered to be an abomination, are also culprits.

If this child were to grow up to be a teacher, what would she potentially project and to whom?

The survival of humankind is contingent upon our learning to absolutely embrace ALL that the Almighty has created in you through your parents. Individuals are not born able to control the form in which they enter this world. Many have taken the liberty to alter themselves drastically once financially able. But even then, those asthetic alterations, those cosmetic reconfigurations are often based on SOMEONE elses perception of beauty. There has to be more mental fortitude.

Pouring encouragement, positive reinforcement, compliments, appreciation and gratitude in general into the coifers of our offspring, are great places to start.

For some this type of abuse comes to them from the outside but for others it is ever present from their own family members. The conditioned self hatred is so engrained that trust is severely damaged.
