Just two days away from Lil Boosie’s first-degree murder trial on Monday (April 30), Judge Mike Erwin declared that prosecutors can use some of the hardcore rapper’s lyrics as evidence to show personal intent and the hiring of a hitman in the 2009 killing of Terry Boyd.
Boosie’s prosecution objected to his lyrics being played in court as it can be a hinderance to the case and that the audio could be altered, but the judge disagreed, allowing no full bars or verses to be used. The song title is unknown, but it references the slang terms, “187”, “cake”, and “murk”. During the pre-trial hearing, alleged hitman, Michael Louding confessed to being paid $2,800 by the rapper to murder a rival. However, the facts of the crime were not essential enough, and Boosie’s lyrics were. Last year, the Lousianna rapper also plead guilty to drug smuggling charges after being caught trying to sneak narcotics into prison while awaiting trial which could cause more troubles for him.
Although he is no longer facing the death penality, if found guilty, the Baton Rouge native will serve life in prison.
