Bowie State University authorities are moving quickly to help the campus community deal with what they call the senseless murder of a student last night.
Maryland State Police say 18-year-old Dominique Frazier was stabbed in the neck by her 19-year-old roommate during a fight in their dormitory. Frazier, a District resident, was found bleeding in a hallway, and she died at a nearby hospital.
The suspect, who is from District Heights, Md., fled the scene but turned herself in to police a few hours later and she has now been arrested. Police say they will not release the name of the suspect until she is charged, which is expected to happen later this morning.
Classes have been cancelled today at Bowie State University. There will be a community gathering for consolation as students and faculty try to deal with the shock and grief spawned by the stabbing murder of Dominique Frazier last night.
Investigators have not provided any motive for the fight. Detectives requested a search warrant to gather evidence inside the apartment which is located in the Christa McAuliffe dormitory complex.
