DAY 01 – TUESDAY – 29 NOVEMBER 2011
Depart Washington, DC on your flight to Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines.
DAY 02 – WEDNESDAY – 30 NOVEMBER 2011
Arrive Addis Ababa and connect on to your flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi you will be met by a Lion World Tours representative and driven across the plains of Mount Kenya and up into the foothills and forests of the second highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kenya to the Mount Kenya Safari Club.
With magnificent views of majestic Mount Kenya, the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club’s luxuriously appointed guest rooms, set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens, offer a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure. Originally the retreat of movie star and Club founder, William Holden, the Club’s illustrious former members have included Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby. DAY 03 – THURSDAY – 1 DECEMBER 2011
After breakfast drive north to ‘Born Free’ country where Joy and George Adamson raised Elsa the lion cub in the wild and beautiful Shaba National Reserve which along with Buffalo Springs is part of the area known as ‘Samburu’. Arrive in time for lunch at the comfortable Sarova Shaba Lodge, which is built around natural springs and offers an oasis of green in the midst of this beautiful but harshly arid landscape. The Sarova Shaba Lodge is located high above the Shaba Game Reserve, and it cleverly incorporates the beautiful natural springs as one of its special features, also offering itself as the perfect base from which to explore The Shaba Reserve.
Spend the afternoon discovering the unique wildlife of the reserve, which is famous for its elephants and lions. Return to the lodge in time to relax before dinner in the restaurant which is raised on timbered stilts overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River.

DAY 04 – FRIDAY – 2 DECEMBER 2011
Today there will be an early morning and afternoon game drive in the Samburu National Reserve which is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River in Kenya; on the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve in Northern Kenya.
In the middle of the reserve, the Ewaso Ng’iro flows through palm groves and thick riverine forests that provide water without which the game in the reserve could not survive in the arid country.

DAY 05 – SATURDAY – 3 DECEMBER 2011
Drive via Nyahururu to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous as the home to thousands of lesser and greater flamingo. This park also provides sanctuary to Rothschild giraffe, rhino and leopard.
Arrival will be in time for lunch. Thereafter depart on an afternoon game drive.
Sarova Lion Hill Lodge
Set on a plateau in an elevation above Lake Nakuru. The lodge is beautifully landscaped with natural foliage and a startling variety of flower gardens, and is surrounded by electrical fences. Flamingo Restaurant on the ground floor has an interior section, a patio overlooking the pool, the lodge grounds and the rift valley and serves a buffet breakfast and lunch. All bedrooms are chalets with private shower, mosquito net, verandas with panoramic views of the flamingo pink-rimmed lake.

DAY 06 – SUNDAY – 4 DECEMBER 2011
After breakfast, drive to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, which is a large game reserve in south-western Kenya, which is effectively the northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park game reserve in Tanzania. This park is named after the Masai people (the traditional inhabitants of the area)
Arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Mara Game Camp, a luxury tented camp. Sarova Mara is set in the African bush but the luxurious tents all have permanent roofs, zip-up fronts, and electricity and en-suite facilities. Relaxing outside your own tent listening to the orchestra of rasping Cicadas, croaking Tree Frogs and the intermittent call of birds and monkeys is a memorable symphony.
Spend the afternoon on safari in Kenya’s most popular reserve. Arrive back in camp in time for a swim, a hot shower, campfire cocktails and dinner in the luxurious central restaurant.

DAY 07 – MONDAY – 5 DECEMBER 2011
Spend the whole day on safari in Africa’s richest wildlife viewing arena. Historically teeming with wildlife, the Mara hosts Kenya’s largest lion prides and elephant herds. Other predators include leopard, cheetah and spotted hyena; while in the Mara River you will see fat pods of hippo and vast Nile crocodiles.

DAY 08 – TUESDAY – 6 DECEMBER 2011
After breakfast at the lodge, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive back down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot, and lakes Elmenteita and Naivasha on the way. Keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle and head up the escarpment.
Transfer to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your departure flight on Ethiopian Airlines to Addis Ababa where you will connect on to the International flight back to Washington, D.C. Bid farewell to Africa until the next time. (B)

Kenya: Immunization against typhoid fever and cholera are recommended, but not mandatory. However, immunization against Yellow Fever is only mandatory if you arrive in Kenya after visiting a country or countries in West Africa or East Africa but when only in transit in Addis Ababa you do not require Yellow Fever immunization. Please contact your physician or travel clinic for advice.
It is strongly recommended that you obtain Anti-Malaria medication before entering Kenya. Other precautionary measures are to make sure that all exposed areas are well slathered in insect repellent at all times, especially from dusk though dawn, spray your accommodation with insecticide, wear long-sleeved clothing, trousers and socks when outside at night and sleep under a net.
