ENVELOPES SENT TO DC SCHOOLS: WHITE POWDER FOUND INSIDE
Yesterday, May 5, 2011- several schools within the District of Columbia received envelopes that contained a white powdery substance within the postage sent from Texas. The FBI were immediately dispatched throughout DC to investigate the situation and found that the powder was cornstarch. Given the death of Osama Bin Laden-retaliation was initally feared.
It seems quite unusual to have such a fast turn around time with an investigation of this kind. The “everything is normal” response is based in denial or an effort to remain calm despite obvious fears. Nothing good would ever come of panic; however, we’d be remiss not to acknowledge this and other instances as a warning, especially given our past episodes of E Coli pathogenic attacks within our city.
We must always keep our eyes open.
