After a night of dancing-Atasha Graham (UK) suffered an allergic seizure and died from what is believed to be…her HAIR WEAVE GLUE.
WHAT THA?!?!?!….

Home Office pathologist Michael Heath told the inquest into her death that the latex glue used to apply her extensions – or the solvent for removing old ones – may have been to blame.

He added: ‘I’ve seen cases where people using solvent to apply extensions has actually caused anaphylactic shock.

‘There are about ten to 20 deaths a year in this country, many more in America. I have seen four in the last three months.’

He said: ‘She had an allergic reaction to something as the level of tryptase in her body was 178 micrograms, but we are not able to identify what the specific agent was that that caused this reaction.’

Do we really know what is actually in the beauty products we use?

Recently the BIG GURL MOVEMENT has picked up momentum in Brazil. Women who are more voluptuous than the size 2 that have typically been the market are finally getting clothing, particularly bikinis in more “realistic” sizes.

The extraordinary thing about this revolution is that it is long overdue especially in a country that is comprised of mixed race brown women that have never been proportionally equivalent to the thinner anglo’s for which clothing is often marketed. The world is coming to terms with the fact that brown women are often bigger in certain areas than their pink counterparts, even if they wear the same size.

“Honestly, the problem went way beyond just bikinis. In Brazil, it used to be that if you were even a little chunky, finding any kind of clothes in the right size was a real problem,” said Rebelatto, herself a size 10. “And I thought, `I’m actually not even that big compared to a lot of women out there, so if I have problems, what are they doing?’”

“We’re working from the principle that bigger women are just like everyone else: They don’t want to look like old ladies, wearing these very modest, very covering swimsuits in just black,” said Luiz Rebelatto, Clarice’s son and director of Lehona.

“It used to be bikinis were only in tiny sizes that only skinny girls could fit into. But not everyone is built like a model,” said Elisangela Inez Soares as she sunbathed on Copacabana beach, her oiled-up curves packed into a black size 12 bikini.

Techies have waged cyber war on those agencies that have arrested their counterparts in the latest federal SOPA/ PIPA crackdown. The “Hacktivist” collective known as “Anonymous”, took full credit for dismanteling many federal and entertainment sites Thursday after the arrests of leaders of Megaupload.com and shut down the popular hub for illegal media downloads.

According to sources, SwizzBeatz was among those whose site was hacked.

According to the indictment, Megaupload, which launched in 2005, was once the 13th-most visited website on the Internet, serving as a hub for distribution of copyrighted television shows, images, computer software and video games.

The news comes as lawmakers have turned their attention to anti-piracy legislation. Protests erupted both online and offline this week against two bills under consideration in Congress: the House’s Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Senate’s Protect IP Act (PIPA).

The bills are aimed at cracking down on copyright infringement by restricting access to sites that host or facilitate the trading of pirated content. But the legislation has created a divide between tech giants, who say the language is too broad, and large media companies, who say they are losing millions each year to rampant online piracy. (Time Warner, the parent company of CNN, is among the industry supporters of the legislation.)

These bamas go hard!!! Is this the NEW type of protest?

In all fairness, the request from the U.S. for South Africans to intervene on Sudan’s behalf is being highly optimistic. The South Africans are struggling to keep the order of their own townships.

It is required that we all help where we can, but is the United States asking the recently emancipated colony to do too much given their lack of resources and struggling govermental structure. Should the U.N. be making these types of requests instead?

The issue is that the Sudan is facing dire human loss at the hands of dire humans. The other options to depose factions and cut off the problem from the root need to be explored rather than asking neighbors for their last bits of food.

Fighting between the Sudanese army and rebels who want to topple the Khartoum government started last year in Blue Nile and South Kordofan, and has raised concern about a larger north-south war erupting again. Groups in both states, which border South Sudan, sided with the south during a lengthy civil war but remain part of the north.

South Sudan has faced a host of problems since gaining independence in July. Some 80,000 people fleeing the fighting in Blue Nile and South Kordofan have sought refuge in impoverished and underdeveloped South Sudan. South Sudan’s Jonglei state has seen deadly ethnic violence. And tensions have risen between Sudan and South Sudan over sharing oil.

GO INTO GET THE ENTIRE PERSPECTIVE –>>

Is World Peace Possible Given the Intolerances that Have Been Taught to Many People?

Skin color and other inherent physical features seem to still bother some people. Misinterpretations and limited understanding about others’ prevents some within and outside of our culture to participate in ethnic purgatory. Cultural biases have historically been used for warring and self preservation. But now that our world is more “civilized” , is it necessary to harbor the same taught perceptions of others?
It buys the things we all take for granted, but that make all the difference. A bed. A roof. A ride. A book. A smile. KCA offers children, their families and entire communities a shoulder to lean on and a heart that beats for them. Because KCA believes we can do something far bigger and better than buy the ability to live. We can buy the dignity that is life. We can buy compassion. Buy love. Buy the cure. Buy life. Because the more you buy, the more you save. KEEP A CHILD ALIVE.

THE TANNING OF AMERICA (reviewed on July 1, 2011) An innovative advertiser shares views on cross-cultural marketing, using lessons from the explosion of hip-hop.

Stoute, founder of Translation Consultation & Brand Imaging, specializes in forging connections between established corporate brands and the community of musicians, rappers, actors and sports figures generally referred to as “urban.” His basic point, repeated frequently, is that the demographic and social changes suggesting America is becoming more multi-hued and tolerant (the so-called narrative of “tanning”) present new and exciting opportunities for promoting products in a competitive marketplace. He ties this argument to hip-hop’s rise and gradual commercialization, starting with the grassroots success of the first Sugar Hill record “Rappers Delight” and the legendary 1986 concert where Adidas’ German executives first heard Run-DMC’s “My Adidas.” Stoute argues that the aspirational nature of hip-hop—the crucial sense of outsider identity it provided from the 1970s through the ’90s—makes it the ideal medium for merchandising everything from luxury goods to soft drinks: “being brand-conscious was nothing new for African-Americans—who I contend are the absolute best consumers in the world.” By the early ’90s, writes the author, advertisers and corporations perceived hip-hop’s credibility and sales potential but were in dire need of “translators”—i.e., cultural point men who could demystify its codes and rituals. This led Stoute to transition from RCA’s black music division to advertising; he realized “tanning” was affecting all aspects of consumer culture. The author’s strength is his recall of various real-world examples of “tanning” in the lucrative, high-stakes arena of mass culture, seen in the success of Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Will Smith and other luminaries. He also discusses business narratives such as the “soft drink wars” and the changing fortunes of Reebok and Tommy Hilfiger to illustrate how his principles can help brands stay nimble and attuned. However, his specific prescriptions for businesses often seem general and dependent on buzzwords.

An unabashed celebration of branding, bling and the potency of marketing and consumer desire.
—-
The concern is whether or not celebrating bling is what we ought to be striving to become as a culture. It is one thing to globalize but quite another to lose ones collective self for the sake of “blending” in with the socializers. This book warrants a thorough review for purposes of awareness. What are the objectives when trying to garner a piece of that 1 Trillion dollar spending power that the African American community possesses? Who truly stands to profit at the expense of our “buy in”?

Thousands of hardworking individuals are being sent back to their countries every month. Unfortunately the American children that they have birthed and raised while here are becoming foreigners in their home countries because they have never known that way of living. In some cases, the U.S. may actually be responsible for causing homelessness among certain demographics. Should this process/law be revisited?
THE TRUTH>>>>>>

Laws are creating homelessness among a population of Americans that are still fighting for their right to be treated humanely. Children and youth are being drastically impacted by the forced deportation of their parents and siblings.

How will this effect a child’s development? Will they be responsible enough to go to school on time and consistently if they are forced to work to provide for themselves and other family members?
