It’s official, Burger King wasted a reported $2 million on a commercial that will go back to the cans.
“Crispy chicken, fresh lettuce, three cheeses, ranch dressing, wrapped up in a tasty flour tortilla,” Mary sang to the tune of “Don’t Mind.” The R&B songstress was allegedly paid $2 million for the chicken-glorifying ad which appeared alongside those of David Beckham, Selma Hayek and late night host Jay Leno.
But while the latter three’s ads remain on the net, Mary’s does not, and many tweeted discontentment before its removal.
In a statement, Mary J. tells TMZ:
“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip.”
“I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”
Burger King confirms the ad was released prematurely “before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained.” The fast food giant also says, “We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final.”
Despite best efforts NO VIDEO FOOTAGE could be found.
