She is absolutely correct. Historical references concerning the role of the black male in the establishment of the black family was deemed threatening. His relationship with any black woman was taking from Massas nightime pickings, not to mention many slave owners were paranoid that more uprisings would occur amongst the black slaves in efforts to free and unify their black families. Another tactic that was most successful was the raping of black women by white men. The black man would know that his woman had been violated by the master upon looking at the newborn child. Any man would be affected negatively by the knowledge that HIS wife had been molested by his “keeper” and there was nothing he could do to defend her honor without getting himself mamed, scarred or worse hanged.
Decades later, free black men and women were faced with the same challenges when “any able bodied black male” was penned onto welfare benefit legislations, yet another tactic to systematically destroy the black family. In recent years, many homeless shelters will not admit homeless adolescent males with their families, entrance into “family” shelters, media has effectively taken the SOUL out of our music and replaced it with only the carnal pleasures for which our community has been conditioned to perform. Merely for the disposal, enjoyment and entertainment of a dominant culture. Black men with their “endowed prowess” and black women with their “Provocative allure”, livestock & sexual objects nothing more nothing less.
There are many more subversive efforts to keep black men hating black women. There are tactics, overt and covert- exercised to feed the existing distrust that many black women have for men in general and black men in particular. We have got to stop feeding our own spirits with those things meant to destroy our very souls. Shake it like a salt shaker, gettin it in, big booty hoes, bling bling, gold teeth, big cars, and fake us out thugs rappin about nothin and doin nothin -have all attributed to our “state or non-union”. These distractions keep us disconnected, “in line” and generationally broken.
