George Lucas has officially stated that the movie RED TAILS which is an all Black movie-will be his last.
The response to his last Star Wars efforts as well as the disheartening reactions from modern studios regarding this latest undertaking-have driven Lucas back to creating holistic movies like he made early in his career. He’s quitting the biz!
Red Tails, which Lucas has funded with $58m of his own money after major studios refused to back it, is the story of the Tuskegee airmen, a squadron of untested African American pilots who won nearly 100 distinguished flying crosses during the second world war. The film is directed by The Wire’s Anthony Hemingway and stars Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrence Howard and David Oyelowo
George Lucas is responsible for the incredible filming of the “Indiana Jones” sequence. For that alone, this man has shared his gift with the world and personally this writer is grateful. His vision will be missed.
