HOME DEPOT “RETOOLS” HBCU’S!!!


Recently Home Depot encouraged community participation in their “Retool your School” improvement grants campaign. Due to emense response Bethune Cookman was awarded $50,000 towards refurbishing the aging campus. Several other HBCU’s were awarded “minor” grants of $10,000.

The objective was to ensure that historically black colleges and universities did not fall victim to the economic downturn. The maintenance and improvement of aging buildings on historical campus’, were the catalysts of creating this preservation initiative . Students, alumnae, and other community members were asked to participate by voting for their favorite campus.
