The latest outburst from Hollywood’s “bad boy” Charlie Sheen has caused a stinging reminder that there is still a double standard.
Charlie Sheen has beat his wife, ran his damn car off of a cliff, admitted to his preferences for hookers, had hooker(s) in the room while his former wife and children were in the next room, been on public drinking and drug binges that would have landed anyone of a darker hue, up under the jail.; reference T.I., Chris Brown, and Maino to name a few.
The double standard that exists within the industry is mind boggling. Lindsey Lohan blatantly disobeyed the ruling of the Judge and the JUDGE was then removed from the case. The girl has been a menace to herself and others and still the media will make Noami Campbell the proverbial bell of the Diva circuit rather than check little miss wanna be “toughit”. The big exec’s largely capitalize off of the entertainment that WE create and yet we are the first to be offered to the wolves when any feathers are ruffled for behavior that is likened to Kim K., Paris Hilton, Charlie Sheen or the entire Housewives & Jersey Shore crew.
Nothing good can come from children, teenagers and other impressionable people- modeling their own behaviors from families like the Kardashians, Sheens, and the Lohans. The Jersey Shore crew have professed that they too are now a family. For Real?!?! These folks are getting paid for being utterly and completely redefining DYSFUNCTION. The bigger the hype the more money they generate. The more money they generate the better it is for the networks that are duping THEM out of what they are actually sacrficing.
NeNe, Kim, Danielle, Theresa and other “Housewives” with small children are definitely negatively shaping the way that their children are raised because their mere existance requires that they put on a MASK to appease the executives of their show. The mask prevents their children from truly attaching to them as the mothers that they would be if they weren’t in front of a camera 24-7. Beyond all of that- the mask that they have put on for us is much like the air brushed editorial model. Her a** doesn’t actually look that but yet millions of women aspire to contort and shape themselves into images that DO NOT actually exist in the real world.
The circus has been entertaining for the most part. However, at some point the show must end. The trapeze artist doesn’t get paid as much as the Show master/ring leader, though their job is far more dangerous. The development of our 21st century mindset should absolutely include the freedom to be whomever one aspires to be. Being deviants on levels that supersede what is generally considered “safe” is absolutely concerning.
With elections right around the corner, it is my every hope that voters brains have not been turned into a bowl gelataneous mush and can still formulate an impactful decision.
The haphazard stir craziness seen in movies like MAD MAX immediately come to mind when constructing images of our future world, if we don’t get our sh*t together and boycott this absurdity that seems to captivate those who are so wounded and disconnected from their own relationships that they chose to absorb themselves into the lives of those who seem to have it better and/or worse than themselves.
