COMMENTARY
It was only a matter of time before the true racism that slowly boils beneath the surface of a very fresh civil rights era erupted under the guise of political “progress”. The recent passing of the Healthcare Reform legislation has exposed what has been cordially dormant for decades.
The Washington Post reported on Thursday March 25, 2010, that lawmakers have been targeted for vandalism and threats largely due to the decision they made to vote in the Healthcare bill. It is grossly disturbing to hear that those in charge of our entire governmental structure behave as primitively as those who felt it necessary to resort to typically Good Old Boy psychological ploys. These efforts no doubt were/are intended to cause a type of post traumatic stress syndrome that would definitely attribute to swaying future voting patterns of those in the Democratic and non-Tea Party Republican Party.
How the “victims” respond will be telling to how effective these practices have truly been….or if they will be used as justification for errant voting. It is also theorized that the agitators are stirring much more of a ruse than is necessary to cause a swirl of drama that would arouse latent Republicans to vote in any and all voting campaigns that will occur this November. It is definitely necessary for Democrats to realize this strategy and counter by standing by our President and engaging more actively in the political process, more specifically VOTING like we voted when we needed change.
Change is never easy nor is it cheap. There is a major overhaul in progress and President Obama is rallying to the call whether we like it or not. There cannot be dissention among the ranks when encountering the evident evil(s). So bad mouthing leadership, being overly critical and staying inactive in political exercises are futile in contributing to the organic purging process that must occur so that innovation and modern perspectives become realities.
The mere fact that our President told us truthfully on the podium of that briskly cold day of inauguration that: “Things will get worse before they get better”, was a testament to the transparency (TRUTH) that can be so utterly unbearable for many people. In recollection of that day, the TRUTH was stunningly refreshing given the absolute bullshit that had been served warm, cold and frozen.
We will not all ever agree. But coercion is not going to MAKE someone’s heart, mind and soul change completely. As a matter of fact a political analyst for CNN stated that “…the losing side of any debate is going to be louder and more aggressive…”, simply to attempt to sway popular opinions. Unfortunately the tactic has worked for centuries. Hopefully, this era of political participants will ignore the tactic and act according to what is needed for humankind vs. what is conjectured propoganda.
Harassing someone may be effectual temporarily, but invariably the scale of right and wrong prevails in those who have the best interest of HUMANS at heart.
How can we ever begin to expect our children to embrace and exact true democracy if the adults that model the behavior are acting as if sixty plus years of legislative “progress” never happened? Effective communication never involves vandalism, threats of violence and other scare tactics. The Tea Parties and the “Patriots” are nothing more than mobs of racist, belligerent, ignorant individuals who have come together to for a group that substantiates their exceptional naivety and unfortunately shares their blindness to the issues that face even many of them. A majority of the members associated with the aforementioned groups are often poor, white, and reside in very rural areas themselves-but for the sake of voting against what is perceived to be an assistance for people of color they are also shooting their own chances out of the window.
It will take a revoluntionary to effectuate the type of CHANGE that is necessary to truly operate on a “For the People By the People” premise. It will require a tenacity that will not shutter when old hats bark, bite and even throw rocks. When George W., dissented against the United Nations-there was barely a grumble.
Now that PRESIDENT Barack Obama is affirming that our own processes need an overhaul, people want to persecute him as if he were Jesus Christ facing the mob.
They need to stop painting Palosi as the “Great White hope too”! She is not the driver of this bus but merely a crossguard!
This will not be pretty but it is all too necessary to call our government out for not effectively serving the people of the United States for this new millineium.
